Born From a Pizza Box.
Sushi Boat started because sushi delivery was broken. Jon Burns decided to fix it.
Meet Jon Burns.
Jon got frustrated with underwhelming sushi delivery. Soggy rice. Smashed rolls. Fish that tasted like it had been sitting around all day. He knew there had to be a better way.
He started by preparing custom sashimi bowls for friends. The feedback was instant: "Where can I order this?" He prototyped the first delivery box using a pizza box, then designed the signature boat-shaped packaging that keeps everything fresh, separated, and ready to share.
Today, Sushi Boat serves Silicon Valley from 1026 W Evelyn Ave in Sunnyvale. Fresh fish arrives every morning, and we sell out every day. Jon still personally manages catering events because the details matter.
The Concept

Most sushi delivery treats presentation as an afterthought. We made it the whole point. Our custom boat-shaped boxes are designed for the table, not the trash. They keep nigiri, sashimi, rice, and toppings in their own compartments so nothing gets soggy.
The result is a family-style, shareable experience that looks and tastes like it was just prepared in front of you. Every order comes with a complimentary bottle of Kikkoman soy sauce.
